Fully qualified train driver course
The complete path to a European licence as a fully qualified train driver.
Who it’s for
For trainee drivers employed by a railway undertaking. Admission requires a medical and a psychological assessment, both completed successfully.
After this course
Your driver can operate and accompany category A and B rail vehicles: from shunting locomotives and works trains through to passenger and freight services with no speed limit.
Structure and content
- Theory at OBV Training Centre and practice at your own railway undertaking, in alternating blocks
- In line with Train Drivers Directive 2007/59/EC, the Dutch Railways Act and the Besluit spoorwegpersoneel 2011
- Periodic reviews with the instructor, OBV and your mentor or team leader
- Once the examinations are passed, the train driving licence can be applied for
- Route and rolling-stock knowledge training follows at the railway undertaking
Practical
- Location: ’s-Hertogenbosch or your own site
- Course material: OBV’s Rule Book, a syllabus, and e-learning with practice questions through RailSysteem
- Admission: the statutory minimum requirements, including a minimum age of 18 and Dutch at level 3
- For this course OBV Training Centre is recognised by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT)
